When it comes to beekeeping, there are new things to learn every day. Whether it is harvesting honey, building new frames or clearing the queen cells, beekeeping is always a learning experience. Today, I had to capture a swarm of bees from a tree, all the while keeping the bees safe and everyone around them sting-free. The bees belonged to one of my former beekeeping students, Leah, who took my Beekeeping for Beginners class at North Idaho College.
The good news is that I was able to help. Leah and I worked together to shake the tree branches in which the bees were temporarily clustering. The bees fell into the super. The bees were then safe and sound and everyone was happy they had returned.
